“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9).
Scripture says if the Spirit of Christ is not in our hearts we do not belong to Christ, that unless we have the Spirit and the understanding of the Word of God, we do not belong to God.
The only way we can become God’s children is through the Scripture. Everyone that has the Spirit of the Scripture, which is the Spirit of God, belongs to God. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).
God’s plan is to make us His sons and daughters through the Spirit of Christ His Son. Paul wrote, “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” (Galatians 4:6).
The Spirit of Christ was God’s promise. God spoke about this promise long ago, that He would give us a new heart, and put the Spirit of the Scripture in us, so that we would obey His Word (see Ezekiel 36:26-27).
When we believe the Word is the Son of God, then God sends the Spirit of the Scripture into our hearts as the confirmation of our faith in His Word. Paul wrote, “In whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13).
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Scripture (see 2 Peter 1:20-21). If anyone receives the Scripture as the Christ, then the Holy Spirit would be pleased, and will come to dwell in that person’s heart permanently (see John 14:23).
God gives the one Holy Spirit of the Bible to everyone who believes His Word. The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to people who believe the Scripture, and God does this to all who believes in His Word, there is no difference at all (see Acts 2:38-39).
The God of the Bible seek to enter us through His Word. When the Spirit of the Word of God enters our hearts, then God has entered us. The psalmist wrote, “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130).
God wants us to receive the revelation of Scripture, and to know the truth of the Bible that the Word is the Christ. Like new born baby, we should desire the sincere milk of the Word to grow in the knowledge of the Scripture (see 1 Peter 2:2).
All prophets of God had the Spirit of the Word of God in them. The Spirit of Christ within the prophets told them to write down the Scripture, speaking about the sufferings of Christ and His great glory afterwards (see 1 Peter 1:10-11).
The Spirit of Scripture is that Spirit of Christ. Today anyone can receive the Spirit of Christ. Jesus says, if we become disciples of the Scripture, the Spirit of Scripture will come and dwell in us forever (see John 14:15-16).
PRAYER
Everlasting Father, thank you for giving us access through one Spirit of the Scripture into the family of God, in Jesus name. Amen.
