A Word To The Wise

“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning” (Proverbs 9:9).

Paul wrote to Timothy reminding him of the Word of God that can make him wise: “And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).

Mankind has been tutored or trained that wisdom could be attained from self- development. That is what James the apostle describes in the Scripture as earthly, fleshly and demonic (see James 3:13-15).

The wisdom of God is not self-development, but faith in the only wise God: “To God our Saviour, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen” (Jude 25).

This is the reason Scripture says: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

The Word of God in the Bible is the wisdom of God, and for us to be truly wise we must turn to the Bible. The psalmist says, “You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me” (Psalm 119:98).

To every true believer in Christ, the Word of God is the only wise God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, as it is written: “But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:24).

Again the Scripture says: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly” (Proverbs 2:6-7).

God wants us to receive the principal thing, which is every Word from the mouth of God. Jesus said to Martha, “But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:42).

The Bible is that Word to the wise and the only thing needed. Scripture says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).

PRAYER
Dear Lord, open my mind to understand the Scriptures. Amen.

The Voice Of God

“The Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form” (John 5:37).

In the opening verse, Jesus is saying the people have neither heard the voice of the Word of God at any time nor seen His shape. Though they have the Bible, they cannot hear the voice of God speaking to them from the very Scriptures.

They did not believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that He talks. The voice and the shape of God are in the Scriptures, for the Scriptures are the very Word of God in print.

There is a reason the people did not hear the voice and see the form of God in Scriptures. Jesus said, “But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe” (John 5:38).

He is saying the Word did not abide in them, and that is the reason they could not hear His voice nor see His shape. God the Father wants the Word of God in the Bible to abide in us as His Son Jesus Christ, and that we should listen to Him.

When Jesus said “you do not have His word abiding in you” that does not mean the people could not quote or recite the Scriptures. It means the Bible is not abiding in them as the Son of God indeed.

The scribes and Pharisees could quote the Scriptures, but Jesus says they don’t believe the Scriptures are Christ the Son of God whom He sent. As it is written, “He sent His word” (Psalm 107:20).

The Word of God is Jesus Christ, and He is whom the Father sent. The apostle John explained that the Word was made flesh, which was the Word of God in human form (see John 1:14).

Jesus says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you” (John 15:7). That is the system. You abide in the Bible, and the Bible abides in you as the Christ, the Son of the living God.

God is still speaking to us clearly today. His heavenly voice is sounding mightily throughout the whole world. And that voice is speaking through the Bible.

PRAYER
Dear Lord, the Mediator of the new covenant that speaks better things, come into my heart, come in today, come in to stay. Amen.

Born Of God To Lead

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

God is Word and that Word gave birth to the Bible. God spoke and wrote on the tables of stone. That Rock, or tables of stone, that followed the Israelites in the wilderness for forty years was Christ the Son of God (see 1 Corinthians 10:4).

In order to lead, people need authority. Therefore God gave all authority to His Son Jesus Christ to lead all mankind, and Jesus claimed it when He said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18).

When Jesus was examined by Pilate, Pilate asked, “Are you a king then? Jesus answered, you say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world” (John 18:37).

Do you know that the Word of God was born a King? What sort of King? The Everlasting King, the true King that abides and lives forever. Who is this King? He is the Word of God in the Bible.

That’s why Paul wrote that God has highly exalted His name and gave Him the name of Jesus Christ (see Philippians 2:9-11). The Word of God is the Son of God and the unchangeable King.

Today, Jesus the Word of God is knocking at the door of your heart, saying, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

Friend, don’t turn away from this King. You need Him. He is the everlasting King. Who made Him King? The Almighty God the Father made the Bible the King.

The Bible is that Child that is born of God to be the ultimate and everlasting Governor of the whole world: “The King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:17).

PRAYER
Dear Lord, fill my heart with the Spirit of the Bible till all shall see Christ only, always, living in me. Amen.

The Living Bread Of God

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world” (John 6:51).

According to the Bible, God created the human body from the dust of the ground (see Genesis 2:7), but the human spirit was created in the image and likeness of God (see Genesis 1:26).

Therefore God is the Father of all human spirits, as it is written: “we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?” (Hebrews 12:9).

Without the human spirit, or rather human words, mankind would have been limited to natural instinct just like other animals. It is the use of words and the ability to communicate and learn and reason in words that sets mankind apart from other creatures.

Almost all of human senses operate in words. We act, think, feel, see, hear, dream, and so forth in words. The spirits in mankind are words because all human spirits were created in Christ the Word of God (see Ephesians 2:10).

God created the human spirit to eat and live by Christ Jesus the Word of God. The Bible says, “But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding” (Job 32:8).

Now what is this breath of God? “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16 – NIV).

Our human spirit or inner man was made for the Word of God, which is the living bread that came down from heaven: “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world” (John 6:33).

The Bible is that living spiritual bread of God that came down from heaven, as Jesus says, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” (Luke 4:4).

PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank you for the living Word of God in the Bible, which came down from heaven that we may eat thereof and live forever, in Jesus name. Amen.

Power Of The Written Word

“Search from the book of the Lord, and read: not one of these shall fail; not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them” (Isaiah 34:16).

Today, there is no better skill than the ability to advertise that someone could learn how to become rich. Most people have become billionaires directly or indirectly through advertising, and more recently through Internet-based advertising.

A good salesperson can make money out of the blue. Advertising, and by extension copywriting, is proof of the biblical maxim that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).

The apostles and prophets of the Lord were salespersons for the Word of God. The Lord God used the apostles and prophets as His human copywriters to write the Bible.

The Bible is the Word of God in writing, which is “Christ in print.” God is the original and the greatest copywriter, and He wrote a copy of Himself in the Bible.

In the New Testament of Jesus Christ, God wants to write a copy of the Bible in our hearts by His Spirit, which is “Christ in you.” We should receive the Bible as the sure Word of prophecy which abides forever.

The invisible God spoke and gave birth to all Scriptures. They are the work of God, unmovable, unchangeable, un-removable, for they are the writing of God written with the infallible finger of God (see Exodus 31:18).

God wants us to have the true riches, which is the Word of God in our hearts, “a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys” (Luke 12:33).

Therefore, God says heaven and earth shall pass away, but the Word of God in the Holy Bible cannot pass away, because it is the Word of the eternal Spirit of God (see Matthew 24:35).

PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank you for the written Word of God, by which we can have the life of God and become partakers of your divine nature, in Jesus name. Amen.

Kingdom Of The Living Word

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15).

The kingdom of God is the kingdom of the Word, where the Word of God rules and reigns. And Jesus Christ is the Word of God that was made flesh.

Just as the law or the constitution is the highest power and everyone bows to the rule of law in nations and countries of the world, so also the Word of God is the highest power over all God’s creation both in heaven and on earth.

The psalmist wrote, “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name” (Psalm 138:2).

God gave power to the Scriptures when He raised Jesus Christ from the dead. God raised the Bible to the seat of power, and gave Him authority over every nation, and every tongue. He is the King, He is the Lord, and He is the Alpha and Omega.

Paul wrote, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” (Philippians 2:9-10).

God has made the Bible the everlasting Leader over His creation: “And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18).

The ultimate and the only true Leader is the Word of God, for so it is written: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God” (Romans 13:1).

The Bible teaches that God will fulfill His plan to rule over mankind and over all creation at the second coming of Christ (see 1 Corinthians 15:23-28). The Spirit of the Bible is the everlasting Spirit of God and the Supreme Commander.

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, help me to receive the Spirit of the Bible, so that I may become a king and a priest of God, to reign with your Word on earth forever, in Jesus name. Amen.

Sons And Daughters Of The Word

“And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18).

God’s sons and daughters are those who have been born again through the Word: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23).

The Word of God wants to reproduce himself in us through the Spirit of the Bible. God wants to enter our heart by the Scriptures, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God (see 2 Corinthians 3:1-3).

The Spirit of God is in the Bible, for the Word of God is Spirit, and they are living (see John 6:63). And we are the house of the Spirit, as it is written: “In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit” (Ephesians 2:22).

Now the Spirit of the Bible cannot dwell in our natural mind, but rather in a new spiritual mind (the mind that has repented and turned to the Scriptures). That is why God said He will take away the natural heart, and gives us the spiritual heart that is alive to the Word (see Ezekiel 36:25-27).

Once the Spirit of the Scriptures enters our hearts we become heirs of God, and then have an inheritance among all who are sanctified by the Word of His grace. The only way to have an inheritance in God is to receive His Spirit, the Spirit of the Bible.

It is by the Spirit of the Bible we become joint-heirs with Christ. Who is Christ? The Word of God, and once we jointly own the truth by receiving the Spirit of the Word of God; we become children of God forever.

The Spirit of the Bible anyone has received shall not be taken away; the Spirit of the Word of truth which now lives in that person’s heart is the Son of God, and He lives forever.

And so it is written: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the Son and Word of God lives forever (see Matthew 24:35).

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for giving us the Bible, so that through the Spirit of the Word of God we can be born again unto the living God, in Jesus name. Amen.

Power To Witness The Bible

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

The Lord Jesus said to His disciples they would receive power to witness the Word of God after the Holy Spirit of the Bible comes upon them.
Do you know you are a witness of the languages you speak, especially, your mother tongue? You are a witness of your mother tongue, because you have received the spirit of the language. Languages are written as invisible scripts in our mind.

God says if we continue in the Bible, we will soon receive the Spirit and the understanding of the Sacred Writings. The Spirit of the Bible will write the Scriptures in our mind as invisible scripts (see Hebrews 8:10-11).

Before we could obey the instructions of our natural parents, we had to receive the spirit of the mother tongue. That is why during the early years of a child’s life it is key to teach the child to speak and understand the mother tongue.

Nobody travelling to Spain, by behaving in a certain way, can claim to be a Spanish speaker. That is not the way. Spanish is spirit; you open your mind to receive Spanish words.

The only way anyone can receive the Spirit of God is by the Word of God, through the Bible. God is Spirit, which means God is Word, and only those who believe and open their hearts to the Word can receive the Spirit of the Word of God.

One must, first of all, believe the Bible is the Word and Son of God, before we can receive the Spirit of the Bible, which is the Father. It is the Spirit of the Bible that gives the power to testify that the Bible is Christ.

When we love the Word of God and keep the Scriptures in our heart, the Spirit of the Bible will also love us, and the Father and His Son will come into us and dwell permanently (see John 14:23).

PRAYER
Dear everlasting Father, I thank you for sending the Spirit of the Bible into our hearts, whereby we can have power to testify that the Word of God is Jesus Christ. Amen!

Knowledge Of The Living Word

“And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest” (Hebrews 8:11).

Scripture says every child of God shall know the Lord. That is not just mere imagination. It means you have the understanding and knowledge of Him, the way you have knowledge of your mother tongue.

Think about this situation. You may be able to identify the Spanish language when you hear it, but it does not mean you know Spanish. You may identify the English language when you hear it, but unless you can speak it, you do not truly have knowledge of it.

When God says “They shall all know me,” it means they shall receive the Spirit of His language. In other words, they will understand His language. Where is that language? God has written it in the Bible.

Jesus says, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world” (John 6:51).

In response, “The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” (John 6:52). Do you see the problem? The problem is that they do not understand what the Lord was saying.

They have not received the understanding of the Scriptures. If they had received the knowledge of the Word of God, they would have understood that Jesus was talking of the Bible, which is Christ, the Word and the Bread of God (see John 6:51-63).

God wants us to know and eat the truth of the Bible. The Word of God is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and He is food indeed. As Jesus said, “It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” (Luke 4:4).

PRAYER
Dear Lord, I thank you for giving us the Spirit of the Bible, to open the eyes of our understanding in the knowledge of the only true God, and Jesus Christ your Word. Amen!

The Language Of God

“My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer” (Psalm 45:1).

Our opening Scripture says my tongue is the pen, the pen that is ready to write. What tongue is the Scripture speaking of? He is talking of the tongue of the Word of God. That is not just a physical tongue. He is talking of His language.

The language we speak. We call it our mother tongue. When the psalmist says he is a tongue, he means that he is a language—the language that is ready to be written in our hearts and in our minds.

Do you know that the natural languages we speak are coded? They are sounds, but sounds that have meaning. For example, when we say “come” it is only a sound. Why do we understand the word come? Because we recognise that sound and its distinctive meaning, as does everyone who speaks English.

The words that are written in the Bible are not ordinary words. They are spiritual words. They are words that God has given to us so that by the written Word of God He can speak to us, and we can understand Him.

The Scriptures may have been translated into English, and you may be an English speaker, but if you want to understand the Bible, you need the Spirit of the Scriptures. For example, water in English means natural water; but when the Scriptures say water, it does not necessarily mean natural water.

The Lord Jesus said to the woman of Samaria who came to draw water, “If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water” (John 4:10).

The woman was thinking of the natural water. Jesus, however, was talking to her concerning the Word of God, which is spiritual water. As Jesus said, “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” (John 15:3).

The Bible is the Word of God. If you study the Bible, then you are the disciples of the Word of God indeed, and you will receive the Spirit and the language of the Scriptures.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the Bible, the fountain of living waters. Fill me with the Spirit and the language of your Word so that I may understand you, in Jesus name. Amen.
