Christ is That Prophet

“And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people” (Acts 3:23).

Moses repeated God’s words to the Israelites, saying: “I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him” (Deuteronomy 18:18).

God gave the Israelites the Scripture, like Moses, so that through the Holy Writing He would be speaking to the people continually. They would be hearing the words of God all the days of their lives.

It is interesting to note that after Moses had died God said to Joshua, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it” (Joshua 1:8).

Scripture was that Prophet God sent. Which was why God says, “Search from the book of the Lord, and read: not one of these shall fail; not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them” (Isaiah 34:16).

The Father gave the Scripture as the everlasting Prophet that will continually speak the words of God to mankind: “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure” (John 3:34).

The Word of God is the Christ, which is that Prophet whom God sent, and He alone speaks God’s words that abide forever. Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

Scripture is the Word of God indeed. The voice of God is in the Holy Bible, because all Scripture are the very words of God in print, as it is written: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16).

The Word of God was the voice of the Prophet Adam disobeyed in the Garden of Eden and he died. The Holy Scripture is that greater Prophet than Jonah, which is among mankind, whom God says we should obey His voice.

That’s why Jesus says, “The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here” (Luke 11:32).

Scripture was the Christ the children of Israel tempted in the wilderness, and they were destroyed: “Nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents” (1 Corinthians 10:9).

The Holy Spirit was speaking in the wilderness through the Scripture, but the people did not listen to the voice of His words. They hardened their hearts through unbelief and eventually they perished (see Hebrews 3:7-12).

Today, the Scripture is that voice of the Prophet that is speaking, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness” (Hebrews 3:7-8).

PRAYER:
Dear Father, give me a new heart and a new spirit so that I would obey the voice of the Scripture, in Jesus name. Amen.
