“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live” (1 Corinthians 8:6).
God the Father is the Creator of all things, and He created all things through His Son Jesus Christ. “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth” (Psalms 33:6).
The Father created all things through His spoken Word, and that spoken Word of God is the only begotten Son of God, who is Jesus Christ, the glory and the exact person of God Himself (see Hebrews 1:2-3).
Jesus said to His disciples, “You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I” (John 14:28).
The Lord is saying that Christ in God is greater than Christ as a human. They may crucify the Man Christ Jesus, but they cannot kill Christ in God. “That Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more” (Romans 6:9).
That’s why Jesus says, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you” (John 16:7).
It was to our advantage that Jesus returned to the position of the Father so that the Comforter will come. Jesus says, “A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father” (John 16:16).
Jesus was talking of Christ in God, that in a short time His disciples would not see Him again in human form. That the same Christ they saw as a human would ascend into the glory of God, and to the position of the Father.
The Word that descended and became a human was the same Scripture that ascended into the glory of the Father. “He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things” (Ephesians 4:10).
God’s Word can do anything He wants; whenever He wants. When God speaks it must be done (see Psalm 33:9). For example, the rod of Moses became a serpent by God’s Word, and again it became a rod by the Word of God (see Exodus 4:2-4).
It was because God said, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14), that was why God’s Word became a human in the person of Jesus Christ to fulfill the Scripture.
The fact that the Lord Jesus became a human, and He died and rose again, makes God’s Word all the more dependable. Jesus says, “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again” (John 10:17).
Scripture is the true God, there is no power that can stop God’s Word, and all must be fulfilled: “Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18).
God’s Word became a human as the fulfilment of Scripture, that is, the Man Jesus came out of Scripture. That’s why Jesus says, “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father” (John 16:28).
