“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).
Jesus Christ said to His disciples they would receive power after the Holy Spirit comes upon them: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me” (Acts 1:8).
The Spirit of God is that Holy Spirit of the Bible which came upon the apostles on the Pentecost day, as it is written: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh” (Acts 2:17).
If the Holy Spirit of the Bible comes upon anyone they become prophets of the Scripture, the Spirit gives power to preach Christ the Word of God: “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).
The Holy Spirit gave birth to all Scripture, who is Jesus Christ, the living Word that gives power to God’s children: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).
God highly lifted up Christ the Word of God far above all power and all authority and all governments, and Jesus claimed it when he said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18).
The authority of the Word of God is superior to all other powers. God’s Word has all power. When God speaks it must be done (see Psalm 33:9). Ultimately the only thing that determines what God will do and what He won’t is His spoken Word.
When we see the Word of God as the authority of God, we would realise that the Scripture is the power of God, and by Him all things are possible. God created all things through His Word both in heaven and on earth (see Colossians 1:16).
Scripture is the Word of God who manifested Himself as a human: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
The Word that descended and became a human was the same Scripture that ascended into the glory of God. “He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things” (Ephesians 4:10).
God has elevated His Word and given the Scripture all authority: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth” (Philippians 2:10).
The Word of God is the power of God. That’s why Jesus says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).
God sent the Holy Spirit to plant the truth of the Bible in our hearts. The truth is that the Scripture is the Son of God. Which is why Jesus says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13).
It is the Holy Spirit that helps us understand the Bible. Whoever believes in the Scripture shall receive the Holy Spirit, as it is written: “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38).
When we believe that the Scripture is Christ the Word of God, then the Father gives the Holy Spirit to us as everlasting gift. Paul wrote, “In whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13).
Today, the Holy Spirit is calling everyone saying, “Come! And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17).
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, fill me with the Spirit of the Bible so that out of my heart will flow the testimony of your living Word, in Jesus name. Amen.
