Spirit Of The Bible

“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

God promised long ago to pour the Holy Spirit of the Bible upon mankind. Scripture says “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them” (Ezekiel 36:27).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, which is the Spirit of Scripture. That’s why Jesus says, “The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works” (John 14:10).

It is the Holy Spirit who gives power to preach that Christ is the Word of God and the Lord, as it is written: “No one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit” (I Corinthians 12:3). The Holy Spirit gives this ability to people.

Jesus spoke a parable that a farmer decided to sow some grain, and some seed fell by the road, some fell in the gravel, some fell among weeds, and others fell on good ground. But only those planted on good ground became fruitful (see Mark 4:2-8).

That good ground is the hearts of people who open to receive the truth of the Scripture. Jesus says, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him” (John 14:23).

God’s Holy Spirit is the planter, the Holy Bible is His seed, and the heart of mankind is the ground for the planting. That’s why Jesus says, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser” (John 15:1).

There is one Spirit and one seed, which is Christ (see Galatians 3:16). The Spirit is the Holy Spirit of Scripture, and His seed is the Scripture. The Holy Spirit plants the Scripture as the true vine. Jesus says, “The sower sows the word” (Mark 4:14).

God sent the Holy Spirit to plant the truth of the Bible in our hearts. The truth is that the Scripture is the Son of God. Which is why Jesus says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13).

It is the Holy Spirit that helps us understand the Bible. Therefore Jesus says, “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me” (John 15:26).

The one Spirit of the Bible baptises people into one body of the Bible. “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:13).

God wants us to open our hearts to receive the Spirit of the Bible, so that we would receive power to become witnesses of the Holy Scripture to other people in our towns, cities, and nations, even to the entire world (see Acts 1:8).

When anyone believes that the Scripture is Christ the Word of God, the Father gives the Holy Spirit to that person as a gift. Paul wrote, “In whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13).

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, fill me with the Spirit of the Bible so that out of my heart will flow rivers of your living Word, in Jesus name. Amen.
