The Almighty God

“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless” (Genesis 17:1).

The Lord appeared to Abraham and introduced Himself as the Almighty God. This title speaks of the Lord’s supreme power. God’s Word has all might and power. The authority of the Word of God is superior to all other powers.

Scripture cannot be stopped by any power in the universe. Every Word of God must be fulfilled, as it is written: “Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18).

God’s Word can do anything He wants; whenever He wants. When God speaks it must be done (see Psalm 33:9). Ultimately the only thing that determines what God will do and what He won’t is His spoken Word.

Scripture is that spoken Word of God which came to Abraham: “And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, in you all the nations shall be blessed”(Galatians 3:8).

When we see the Word of God as the Almighty, we would realize that Christ the Word is the power of God, and by Him all things are possible. God created all things through His Word both in heaven and on earth (see Colossians 1:16).

The knowledge of the Word of God as the Almighty establishes the authority of Scripture in our hearts. Which is why Jesus says, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18).

God’s desire is to have personal relationship with mankind through His Word. That was the reason Jesus Christ, the Word of God, became a human to die and rise again so that we would know Him, the only true Almighty Word of God (see John 17:3).

The fact that the Lord Jesus humbled Himself and became a human makes the Word of God all the more remarkable. Jesus says, “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again” (John 10:17).

Paul wrote, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory” (1 Timothy 3:16).

Scripture is the Word of God that manifested Himself as a human: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

The Word that descended and became a human was the same Scripture that ascended into the glory of the Almighty. “He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things” (Ephesians 4:10).

God has highly elevated His Word and given the Scripture all authority: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth” (Philippians 2:10).

The Word of God is the Almighty Jesus Christ. That’s why Jesus says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

PRAYER:
Dear Father, thank you for the revelation of your Word as the Lord God Almighty, in Jesus name. Amen.
