The Bible Life

“When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:4).

Our natural bodies came from the dust of the ground, and have temporary life, but the spiritual body is Christ, the Word of God, which has everlasting life. The dying bodies must be changed into bodies that will never die (see 1 Corinthians 15:53).

Paul wrote that as each of us has put on the natural body, we will also put on the spiritual body: “As we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man” (1 Corinthians 15:49).

Jesus Christ is that spiritual Man from heaven, and He is the Word of God. Therefore Jesus says, “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world” (John 6:33).

The Word of God has everlasting life because God dwells in Scripture. The Father dwells in His Son Jesus Christ. The Spirit is the Father, and His body is the Son. That’s why Jesus says, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).

Scripture is the Son whom the Father sent to give us eternal life. “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:11-12).

Eternal life is to know the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He sent. Christ came into this world to reveal the true God to us. John wrote, “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

When we read the Scripture we are seeing the true Son of God. We are looking at God who cannot die. As the Father is Himself the source of life, in the same way He has made His Word to be the source of our life (see John 5:26).

Anyone who believes that the Word is the Son of God has everlasting life. Jesus says, “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:40).

The Holy Scripture is that Son of God, Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life-giving Spirit. That’s why Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25).

Flesh and blood shall pass away but the Holy Scripture will remain forever. Peter wrote, “But the word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you” (1 Peter 1:25).

God Himself is the life of the Bible, that’s why Scripture cannot be broken. All Scripture must be fulfilled. Jesus says, “Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18).

Scripture is that eternal life God gave to us. The Word of God is the everlasting life. Jesus says, “And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak” (John 12:50).

The God of the Bible is the living God, “Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:16).

PRAYER
Gracious Father, turn my heart to believe in the everlasting life you gave us through the Scripture, in Jesus name. Amen.
