The Blood Of Christ

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:14).

Before we were born God made provision for our salvation by a covenant. God saved us by Jesus Christ “through the blood of the everlasting covenant” (Hebrews 13:20). And upon this covenant hangs the salvation of humankind.

The assurance of God’s covenant is in His blood; it is the blood of Christ that makes the covenant sure and steadfast: “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20).

God made covenant with Jesus Christ, which is not based on humans, but on the precious blood of Christ: “Inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises” (Hebrews 8:6).

The New Covenant was not made with mankind, but with Jesus Christ. God’s covenant stands sure and settled, sealed by the eternal blood of Christ: “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Revelation 1:5).

God bought us, and Christ’s blood was the payment. When Christ shed His blood, the New Covenant was confirmed: “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20).

Salvation comes to us because of God’s will or testament. God gave us eternal life through Christ as a legacy. Jesus Christ is the will of God. But a will has no power unless the person who made it is dead (see Hebrews 9:16).

A will or testament is a legal document by which a person, the testator, expresses how their property should be distributed at death: “For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives” (Hebrews 9:17).

Therefore Jesus Christ, the Testator of all Scripture, had to die to make His Word in the Bible valid and secured. Christ poured out His life’s blood to give power to God’s Word, and to make Scripture the everlasting inheritance (see Hebrews 9:15).

The blood and water that came out of Jesus Christ when the Roman soldier pierced His side was a proof that our Lord Jesus indeed died as a human, and gave validity to all the promises which He made in the Holy Scripture (see John 19:33-34).

Today, Jesus Christ is alive and He is among us, not as a human, but as the living Word of God that abides forever: “But the word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you” (1 Peter 1:25).

The Holy Bible is the eternal Word of God, and the book of God’s covenant. Scripture is Jesus Christ, “the Mediator of the new covenant” (Hebrews 12:24), which is the everlasting Son of God who lives and abides forever.

It is God who made the will that makes the covenant valid. Scripture says everyone has access to God’s inheritance: “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him” (Romans 10:12).

You have nothing to do but to receive Christ. You may be poor that does not change the will; you may have disgraced yourself that cannot void the will. “For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame” (Romans 10:11).

God gave the Holy Scripture to us, which is God’s will. Jesus says, “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:40).

Whoever believes that the Scripture is the Son of God shall experience the cleansing power of God’s Word. Scripture has instantaneous effect in the heart. Jesus says, “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you” (John 15:3).

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, wash me thoroughly with your living Word and cleanse my heart with the truth of the Holy Bible, in Jesus name. Amen.
