“I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images” (Isaiah 42:8).
The glory of God is the manifestation of God, whom He is as God. The Word is God’s true identity and glory, as it is written: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).
Scripture is that Word, which is the brightness and express image of God’s glory. The Scripture is the true expression of God Himself (see Hebrews 1:3). The Word is the glory and image of the invisible God (see Colossians 1:15).
The truth, directly from the Bible, is that the Word is the very God who created all things in the beginning. Scripture is before all things, and “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3).
God created all things by Scripture, He spoke before everything else began. Peter wrote, “For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water” (2 Peter 3:5).
God’s Word is the power that holds the universe together. Peter further writes, “But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:7).
Scripture is the true and the only manifestation of God. The Word is the voice and shape of God Himself. Christ is the glory of God and the only begotten Word of the Father (see John 1:14). And God will not give His glory to another.
Everyone must receive the Scripture to be members of God’s family and become heirs of God’s glory: “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).
The Word is Jesus Christ and the glory of the only true God. All other gods are imposters conjured up by the devil. God gave His glory to the Scripture, “that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:11).
Jesus made this clear, saying, “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him” (Matthew 11:27).
But Jesus has revealed that He is holding in reserve a great inheritance to give: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work” (Revelation 22:12). That great reward is Christ the Word of God Himself.
Christ, the Word of God, is heir of all things including God’s glory. It is after we believe the Scripture, and are born again into God’s family through His Word, before we become joint heirs with Christ through the Scripture (see Romans 8:17).
The only way anyone can become heir of God is through the Holy Scripture. Paul says, “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20:32).
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the love you bestowed on us that we should become heirs of God through your Word, in Jesus name. Amen.
