The Name Of Jesus

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:18-19).

Jesus said to His disciples that He has supreme authority, therefore go and preach this gospel. Anyone who believes and is baptized shall be saved. And His disciples went everywhere preaching and baptizing in the one name of Jesus Christ (see Acts 2:38).

Isaiah prophesied that the Son of God is also the Everlasting Father (see Isaiah 9:6). Who is the Son of God? The Word that was made flesh is the Son of God, which is Jesus Christ (see John 1:14). Jesus says, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).

It was God of the Bible that came in the Man Christ Jesus to save all mankind, and He is the only true God. Paul wrote, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).

Jesus Himself said His Father’s name is Jesus, that He came in His Father’s name (see John 5:43). Jesus also said, the name of the Holy Spirit is Jesus: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name” (John 14:26).

The Word is the Godhead: “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9). No one has seen God at any time, the Word of God, which is Christ the Son of God has made God known to us (see John 1:18).

God is the author of all Scripture; therefore God gave His own name to His Word. Scripture has inherited the name of Jesus, because God was pleased to have everything of Himself in the Bible. That’s why Jesus says, “All things that the Father has are Mine” (John 16:15).

The Father has committed all things to His Word, and made the Bible the first begotten Son of God. Therefore God gave His Word the name of Jesus, which is the one name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said to Phillip that the Father dwells in Him: “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). In fact, Jesus taught His disciples to pray to the Father in His name, because Jesus is the name of the Father (see John 16:23-28).

Paul wrote, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). Jesus is the Lord our Saviour. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

When we pray in the name of Jesus we are praying to the God of the Bible. God has highly elevated the Scripture and given Him the highest name of God, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow to the one true God of the Bible (see Philippians 2:9-11).

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for revealing your name so that we would call on the true God of the Bible, in Jesus name. Amen.
